Happy New Year... two months later 😅😼
I took a brief hiatus. Just to sum up, I spent New Year’s Eve in Chanduy. We spent time at the beach, accompanied by the bombastic sound of firecrackers. Then, we woke up on January 3rd to the news from Venezuela that President Trump had plotted to take Nicolás Maduro to the U.S. That was the highlight of January.
We came back on the fourth day and made a sponge cake soaked in a coconut mixture because when we buy coconut juice, it comes with the pulp as well. On the 10th, we celebrated my cousin’s birthday (even though his real birthday was on the 12th). In mid-January, I baked a lemon cake for Caroline’s bachelorette breakfast, my sister’s friend. Then, at the end of the month, it was her wedding. My sister said the pictures and the venue were amazing.
That was my January. I think I started the year really well.
As of February, a long holiday was waiting for us. The Carnival celebrations went all out across the country. This year, Carnival was paired with Valentine’s Day. We went to Chanduy for three days (one more day and I would have started losing my mind — it’s a little too serene for me).
We went to a fair, and I took the opportunity to buy new earrings shaped like dog paws.
I almost forgot: Before we drove to Chanduy, I baked heart-shaped cinnamon rolls in Guayaquil. I dyed the dough red to make them more visually appealing, and I also prepared a coffee drink. They were filled with frangipane. The dessert was mouthwatering and absolutely delicious.
The beach was great. Thankfully, we headed there around 5 p.m., when the sun wasn’t too strong. I only swam once during the three days — I’m not exactly a hardcore beach fan, just a seafood lover. On the second day, we went around 6:30 p.m., and it suddenly started pouring, haha. That ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
As for the rest of February, I’m planning to write a few more posts.
P.S. Although Chanduy is beautiful, I’m starting to crave new destinations. I’ll make it happen — hopefully.
