First Day of Pre-University at ESPOL
Monday, September 22, 2025 .
My sister was in charge of the food today. She made chicken with green onion, soy sauce, and herbs to mix with yesterday’s chaulafán, while I was printing my class schedule and some logic problems.
This is my first day in the Pre-University program at ESPOL.
I texted our trusty taxi driver, but he told me he couldn’t pick me up. So, I took the bus. Yesterday, I had asked my friend which route he takes, and he kindly helped this human being out.
The commute lasted 30 minutes, and I even chatted with a girl who was also going to college. She got her classes assigned in a faculty building because there are so many students this period.
When I got there, I lined up to enter the building. I showed my digital credential on the Mi Espol app, and they told me where my classroom was: second floor, to the left, and then all the way to the right.
Class wrap-up, 1–3 p.m.
The teacher was really great, knowledgeable and respectful. She had us gather in groups to socialize and then present what we learned about each other to the class. After listening, I realized most of my classmates will study civil or industrial engineering.
Our first topic was logic. Not too hard, but definitely something you have to practice. We managed to do a few exercises, and at the end she said she would post the homework on the virtual classroom.
A highlight: while introducing myself, people weren’t sure whether Alejandro would be a man or a woman, haha. As always, they were surprised by my unusual surname. I’m used to it—and I love it.
When the schedule switched at three in the afternoon, Don Julio was already waiting for me. I knew which bus to take, but 3 p.m. is a risky time or "hora boba", so I preferred calling a taxi.
It was such an amazing day.
PS: They had chemistry after math, but hey this girl got exempted!
If you don’t know yet, I’ll be a food engineer with style! 😎
