The redemption of YUMMI

Tuesday, April 8th, 2025.

I woke up at 6:30 to do some exercises in advance. Today I wore another pair of blue jeans, a red Mickey Mouse t-shirt, and my black sneakers. I got there on time and sat in the same chair as yesterday. We did a few math exercises, and later the verbal aptitude teacher introduced himself—I loved his class! He’s very passionate, knows a lot about literature, and has an impressive vocabulary. He even said my last name is peculiar.

At home, my sister had made a delicious tuna salad.🥗

In the afternoon, I reviewed English grammar, wrote, and practiced some math exercises.

Wednesday, April 9th, 2025

The highlight was buying YUMMI—a brand that sells cakes in glass jars. They recently reopened, and it turns out they’re literally right where I get off the bus near the academy. My sister and I agreed to buy two small jars: Nutella and tiramisu flavors. They cost us $3.75 each.

The place is big and nice, the service is great, and the jars are small (but cute!).

When I got home and after lunch (fried fish), we tried them—and they were amazing. The Nutella one was our favorite, though both were super creamy and smooth. We also had a reason to buy them: redemption. More or less three years ago, when YUMMI first opened, we’d bought a big chocolate-flavored jar, but the cake was dry and the filling was greasy (like you could actually taste the butter). We were disappointed, but some things deserve second chances—and this time, they nailed it! The flavors were rich, and the layers were perfectly balanced!We finished them in no time at all! 😋

Thursday, April 10th, 2025:

My outfit: A pink t-shirt, blue jeans, and pink-and-black sneakers. 👖

In class, we covered numerical and abstract aptitude tests. We solved tons of exercises, including "Which shape comes next?" and "What number follows this sequence?"

I caught the bus at 1 p.m. and made a quick grocery run before going home—our fridge was empty, haha.

For dinner, my sister made lemon-oregano roasted chicken with a side salad. Absolutely delicious.

P.S. I used to never go out. It feels refreshing to explore new places now.

I noticed there’s a skincare salon near the academy. My face desperately needs hydration.
