El graduado
Do you remember my cousin who had his Confirmation earlier this year?
Well, he just graduated from high school a few days ago, and today was the party!
For once, all four members of Alejandro’s family attended, and I had to go too—since I was in charge of the cake!
My aunt always orders cakes from me (I’m so happy and grateful for that), and this time, the request was for a graduation-themed cake. It was a three-layer vanilla cake with pastry cream filling, covered in chantilly (MassCream).
For the decoration, I dyed some of the cream blue and piped designs with a piping bag. I sprinkled edible gold leaf and some golden sprinkles
It turned out great and, fortunately, it survived the 25-minute ride in my dad’s car.
When we got there, we took some photos with the graduate, and then we did some karaoke. My aunt handed out flowers to the women in the family because today is also Women's Day—to commemorate all the women who have fought throughout history to be heard, respected, and seen.
Later, we did more karaoke—my sister and I sang a song by Elvis Crespo. My dad recited a poem, and even the guys in the family danced. It was so funny!
And of course, we ended with the cake. There were 17 of us, and not only was it enough—it even had leftovers! I thought it would serve 12 to 16 people, but we had around four extra slices. I think it’s because of the size—and the fact that my family doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth.
Pdta: La crema pastelera me quedó buenísima pero el cake, aunque estaba rico, le faltó más almibar.
