A complete day

My sister is still recovering, and my dad is on a business trip, so my mom asked Don Jose to pick me up this week at 6:30 am. I always pack my breakfast, and today I ate overnight oatmeal. I prepared it yesterday with rolled oats, natural yogurt, coconut milk, chia seeds, chopped apple, and cacao paste. It was okay—not bad, not good. I should try making it again to improve the recipe. I preferred the granola I had yesterday. In fact, the granola kept me full for a longer time because today, around 10:30, I was already getting hungry.

I had breakfast in the car, and we got to the bakery at 7:10. I left my backpack in my locker, took my pills, brushed my teeth (yes, oral hygiene always!), put on my apron and hairnet, and was ready for action.

Today, Jenny was back. I separated white and black tart shells, and at this point, you know the routine—oven, brush with chocolate, and fill with lemon curd. Then, I basically spent the rest of the day zesting lemons and oranges with the still-mysterious accessory and then squeezing them. I did 100 lemons and 40 oranges.

I like my station because from here, I can see the others. Melanie and Laura were decorating birthday cakes, Titi was making macarons over there, and the other guys were working on profiteroles and cake batter. Then, there’s the other station where frutitas de mazapán are made—they take a piece of dough and shape it into a pear or an apple (I think).

By the way, in the end, Titi finished making macarons and came to our station. There’s always something to do—the more hands, the better! You know, many hands make light work.

After that, I headed to CEN and ate at a nearby restaurant. I had barbecue chicken, and it was delicious. It was 12:35, so I stayed in the library for a while before going to my classroom on the second floor.

Today was the quiz on Units 5 and 6. There were three pages, front and back. I think I did well. I'm aiming for more than 45 points, or even a 50 out of 50. I felt confident, even in the writing section—my Achilles’ heel. It was about comparing two restaurants, but I had prepared a comparison between two stores because the teacher had given us a heads-up, and I mistakenly thought it was about stores. So, I was a little nervous. In the end, I chose the restaurant near the bakery and the one near CEN. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

At 3:45, I took the bus, which was literally waiting for me—haha, as soon as I walked out of the building, it was there. I always fear getting robbed, but thankfully, nothing has happened so far. However, there are always vendors getting on the bus, which makes me feel anxious and tense.

P.S. These past few weeks have been very productive. I feel like I walk a lot, and I’m literally standing for five hours. On top of that, I have to walk to the bus stop, then to CEN, and even more when I head back home. Plus, I still have to keep up with my treatment—taking 10 pills a day—and today is my last injection (out of four). One of the pills is a vitamin, and I hate it. Every time I swallow it, it leaves a terrible aftertaste.
