The best happens on Wednesday

Let me tell you about my week!

Monday, February 24-28, 2025.

Monday: Melanie got sick, so Jenny took her place at the tarts and cakes station.

Tuesday: One of my least favorite tasks is filling cake molds with batter, especially carrot batter. Today, I finished four full containers of batter, pouring it into loaf cake pans. I also used up one container of lemon cake batter. I ended up completely dirty—my apron is like, "Estoy cansado, jefe" I also zested 100 lemons.

Wednesday: It rained in the morning—not heavily, but steadily. My sister had already dropped off my mom at work and was on her way to drop me off at the bakery when she stopped to merge onto the main road. Since there were puddles of water everywhere, a huge bus sped by and splashed water all over her, leaving her completely soaked. She had the window open to check if it was safe to merge, and that’s when it happened. It was so funny to see! I was sitting in the back seat, and even the passenger-side window and seat got wet. It was hilarious.

Now, speaking of work, today I greased and filled some molds with batter. I also squeezed the lemons I had zested yesterday. It was my first time using the electric juicer. I had to juice half of them, and I did, but I ended up leaving at 12:30 instead of 12:00. My sister, who came to pick me up, was mad at me—with good reason. I didn’t know we had to pick up my mom at Fundasen. She had left work early and stopped by Fundasen to schedule an appointment with the nutritionist. On the way home, we bought rotisserie chicken for lunch.

Thursday: Rain again. It has been raining every morning this whole week. Jenny taught me how to decorate mini texturas tarts (6 cm). It was great! She showed me that to keep my piping bag (and my arms) clean, I should use my cornet. She seems more serious than Melanie, but in reality, she’s easy to talk to.

Friday: You should read the next post.

Ps: I had to zest and squezze a lot of lemons and oranges this week. For one batch, it is either 100 lemons or 72 and 40 oranges. And all that zest is enough for two containers of batter, either orange or lemon. The juice, I dunno. Sometimes, it is for glaze, other times for lemon cream or batter.
