The Last Day

Not mine, just in case you assumed that! I’m nowhere near finishing my internship. But today was Chef Titi’s last day before she goes on vacation starting Monday. I’m a little sad because I really like her. She’s great at teaching, fast, talented, and passionate about what she does. I hope she has an amazing vacation and enjoys time with her family.

Enough with the sentimentalism—time to get to work! Manos a la masa: Today, she had me fill small rectangular silicone molds with carrot batter. As always, my apron got dirty—and it’s funny because I’m the only one with a white apron while everyone else wears black! Now I understand why.

I also filled a few molds with orange batter. It’s actually a pretty tough task because the batter is stored in these huge containers, and since it's cold and thick, you have to put in some effort with the silicone spatula to scoop it into the piping bag.

I also painted some tart shells.

Baking isn’t the only thing going on in my life. Today is Valentine’s Day, and my mom is a teacher. The parents of her class organized a small gathering to celebrate.

On special days like this, we always wait at home to see what goodies she’ll bring us. And today was no exception! She brought alfajores, two slices of different cakes, candies, a box of chocolates, and a bunch of letters from her students.

All the letters were beautiful, but some were especially creative—the students really put a lot of effort into making them. I’m so happy for her! And, of course, for us too, because those sweets were absolutely delicious.

P.S. Today, I finally caught the name of the guy I worked with during my first days here—finally! Haha. It’s Alexander. I heard it when the head chef called him.

Pdta 2: Cuando llegué a casa, mi hermana me hizo notar que olía a cake jaja. Ahora huelo a dulcecito 😅😄
