Sleep better, feel better

By going to bed early, I woke up feeling more energized and better overall. It has been raining constantly these days. This morning, it was still raining, and since my sister still wasn’t feeling well, my mom texted Don José (our other usual taxi driver) yesterday to pick us up at 6:20. We had a plan: First, Don José would drop off my mom, then a man near Policentro, and finally, me at the bakery.

Since I didn’t finish my breakfast, I ate my toast along the way. I arrived on time at the bakery, brushed my teeth in the bathroom (yeah, I brought my toothpaste and toothbrush), put on my apron and hairnet, and was ready to start in the kitchen!

Melanie gave me the task of painting tart shells with chocolate and then filling them with lemon curd. After that, I filled mini silicone molds with carrot batter (I swear, it’s infinite. I suppose they sell a lot of those mini carrot cakes because we always making them haha). Then, it was time to do the same but with the orange one.

Finally, my favorite task: zesting lemons with that mysterious—but amazing—accessory. I must have zested more than a hundred! And that was it. You know, always running back and forth with trays and bowls, constantly slipping in the dishwashing area but (thankfully) never falling.

When I got home, my sister had cooked a pale, bland chicken with a bland vegetable salad. It was sad eating that sick-people food, but at least I didn’t have to cook, so it was okay. I just hope she gets better soon.

Pdta: De hecho, he comprado el carrot cake en los centros comerciales y es muy rico. Nunca pensé que llenaría los moldes en la planta de producción 🥕
