To the Beautiful Land of Chanduy
It has been said that a road trip is a great way to bring a family together, and it’s true.
We
always travel in our own car, and my family’s favorite destination is Chanduy,
a parish located in the province of Santa Elena. We set off for Chanduy at 5
a.m. from Guayaquil. It was early November, a holiday for the Day of the Dead,
and we wanted to visit our family there.
My
dad drove the entire way, my mom was the co-pilot, and my sister and I sat in
the back seats. The weather was cloudy and fresh, and as we got closer to the
rural area, we could see green fields, mountains, and crops of maize. The trip
took about two hours. However, since we never have breakfast at home before
leaving, we always stop to eat at La
Bendición de Dios restaurant in Zapotal. The food there is delicious, and
their signature dish is seco de chivo,
which we always order.
The
trip was great and went smoothly, and of course, I would go again. I love
visiting my family there, especially my grandma and little cousins. In fact,
we’ve already planned to return in January.
