El Confirmado

Today, was my cousin's Confirmation at his high school's church. My mom and I got there by taxi five minutes before the Mass started. It had been a while since I last stepped into a church, and it felt great. The Mass took an hour and many boys received the Sacrament of Confirmation. 

Later, we reunited with the rest of the family: my aunt ( my cousin's mom), grandma, my other aunt, and my cousin. It was 13: 30 pm. We took photos, and afterward, we headed to a restaurant called La Picantería Cuencana. It was not too far from the highschool. When we got there, there was a long line outside the restaurant, but it didn't go all the way to the street (the queue was still in the establisment's territory). It was 2 pm. We doubted if we should wait or not, but, since there were nine of us, we asked for a table for 10, and we didn´t have to wait too long.

The restaurnat felt like a little piece of Cuenca, with all the decorations and the vibe of the city. It was very picturesque. The waiters were even wearing hats.  

We ordered different dishes,  all of wich included some of these: papas chauchas (small potatoes), salsa de maní (peanut sauce), choclo (corn), chancho (pork), tortilla de papa (potato tortilla), maduro frito (fried sweet plantain), cuerito de chancho crujiente (crispy pork skin), and mote (hominy). 

I leaned towards motepillo, which included chancho, mote with egg and chees (motepillo), tortilla de papa accompanied by peanut sauce, and a salad with onion and tomato.

I liked it. The pork had a good taste. It was objectively very tasty, but, I am not a fan of the food from The Highlands. Still, I quite enjoyed it... and since it was a free meal courtesy of my aunt so... you can't pass up those opportunities!

Later, we went to my aunt's house and spent about an hour and a half chatting and watching a movie we didn't finish (The Hitman). 

We returned home at 6:15 pm.
